Leadership Training

Youth have an important role to play in today’s society. Scouts Canada offers training to these youth to help them improve skills and guide them towards achieving goals, inside and outside of scouting. Youth training focuses on many aspects such as working in groups, effective leadership, delegation and time management. These are skills which youth will use to be more successful in scouting, as well as in school and work environments.

FLEX - Stands for Fun Leadership EXperience. This leadership training is for the cub section (ages 7-10). It highlights 5 important points to effective leadership, as well as a section on sixers/seconds and Keeos. F.L.EX. focuses on active games to keep our younger youth involved as they gain important knowledge and improve skills.

FAST – Stands for Fun Active Scout Training. This leadership training is for the scout section (ages 11-14). Similar to the F.L.EX. training, F.A.S.T. highlights 5 points essential to effective leadership, as well as a module on Patrol leaders/assistant patrol leaders and Kims. F.A.S.T. focuses on teaching, and using active games to enforce and instill the skills taught.

FOCUS Stands for Future of Canada United through Scouting. This leadership training is for the venturer section (ages 14-17). F.O.C.U.S. is directed towards older youth, and therefore takes a more advanced look at leadership and the skills necessary to be a successful leader. The training has 5 modules and is taught in a classroom environment with workshop and brainstorming games to share thoughts and opinions with fellow youth of what is being taught.

See the Council Calendar for upcoming training events.
