WJ19: Hosted Hospitality - Call for Expressions of Interest from Canadian Scouting Groups

Help us help thousands of Scouts from around the world to experience Canada in 2019!

We are looking for Canadian Scouting Groups to help host World Jamboree participants in your local community before or after the World Jamboree in 2019.

The Canadian Contingent ( has agreed to help World Jamboree Units (each consisting of approximately 36 youth and 4 Scouters) twin with Canadian Scouting Groups in advance of the Jamboree in 2019.

We are looking for Canadian Groups to host a Jamboree Unit from the United Kingdom or Germany, either before or after the World Jamboree (approximately July 14-18 or August 3-7).

In order to host over 5,500 Scouts from Germany and the UK, we are looking for at least 140 Canadian Groups to take on this challenge.  Can you please help us?

We are hoping that YOU can play a part in making this unique experience one they will never forget!  Let’s help your local Scouting members to experience international Scouting in their own backyards!  Enable your youth and Scouters to be a part of the World Scout Jamboree experience.

Hosting would involve providing a local meeting place (church basement, community hall, school gymnasium, local Scout building, etc.) for the Unit to stay for approximately three days and two or three nights.  Ideally, our Canadian Host Groups would also help arrange some local activities/outings, and perhaps a meal or two.  As well, we would encourage day outings with local Scouting families.  This program is a low-cost, high-value opportunity for our Canadian Scouting Groups.

We want European Scouts to find out more about living in Canada, our culture, and everything that makes Canada (and Canadian Scouting!) great.  The connections our Canadian Scouts will make as a result will lead to lasting friendships and also exciting program possibilities and exchanges.

Our past international experiences have taught us that every person involved has their own story to tell about their life and their Scouting journey.  We hope that you will want to join us in making this happen, and here are a few reasons we think you might want to step up and get involved:

  • Create shared bonds and friendships across the ocean and the years
  • Foster a sense of cross-cultural perspective and understanding for both your Scouting youth and those who you host
  • Get a fresh perspective on Canada through the eyes of a visitor
  • Rediscover your local community and the chance to be a tourist in your own region
  • Create lifelong memories and experiences
  • Form new links for your Scouting Group and your local area with Scouting Groups in the UK and Germany
  • Share the best of Canadian Scouting and see what World Scouting has to offer
  • Create possibilities to bring your Scouts to the Europe for a future event

If you are interested in hosting a World Jamboree Unit and finding out more, please email us at This doesn’t mean you are making any form of commitment to host European Scouts and Scouters, just that you are interested in hearing more about this unique opportunity.  Please send us your name, Group name, Area name, and your personal contact information.

Join our World Jamboree adventure.  We look forward to hearing from you.
